João Cotrim de Figueiredo holds a degree in Economics from the London School of Economics and an MBA from Universidade Nova de Lisboa.
He has occupied several top executive management positions as CEO of organizations such as Compal (leading Portuguese fruit juice company), TVI (leading free-to-air television station in the country) and Turismo de Portugal (the public entity responsible for Tourism Policy), among others.
At the same time, João has for over ten years now, been an entrepreneur and business angel in several ventures, holding share participations in Jason Associates (People And Transformation Consulting), Faber Ventures (digital economy) and in the recent online economic information projet ECO.pt.
João has also been involved in the setting up of The Lisbon MBA, maintaining close ties to Nova School of Business and Economics, both as a teacher and as a manager.
He is 55, lives in Lisbon and has 4 children and 1 granddaughter.
