Julian Manning (24) is a 4th—semester student at the Ecole hoteliére de Lausanne pursuing a BSc in
International Hospitality Management. Grown up in Basel (Switzerland) and Istanbul (Turkey)
holding three passports, he has always had a keen interest in joining the multinational
hospitality sector. Julian completed his first cross—divisional internship at age 14 in a Melia
property in Germany. After successfully obtaining the Swiss Maturité Gymnasiale in 2014, he
completed his compulsory military service as a paramedic, before joining the Business
Development Team at Bank J Safra Sarasin Ltd. in 2015. Julian began his studies at EHL in
2016. Meanwhile, he interned at Kempinski in Berlin and recently joined the Marketing
Department in a Swiss independent Medical Wellness property.
As Head of Speakers at the Young Hoteliers Summit, Julian‘s key responsibility is to network
with decision—makers, inﬂuencers and inspiring individuals in the hospitality industry. Julian
coordinates the keynotes and panel discussions of the upcoming 10th Edition of YHS at the
Ecole hoteliére de Lausanne.
Simone Solèr (23) is a final year student at Ecole Hôtelière de Lausanne (EHL) currently
pursuing a Bachelor of Science in International Hospitality Management and looking to
graduate in July of 2019. Growing up in Zurich and Basel (Switzerland), but with two parents
involved in international tourism, Simone quickly developed a fascination and affinity for
other languages, cultures, and the global role of hospitality as a form of communication
across cultural divides. After successfully completing her Swiss Matura in Basel in 2014,
she started her university level education at EHL in 2015. Over the course of her studies
she absolved an internship with the Jumeirah Group in London (Great Britain) as well as
Gradient, an experiential events and marketing agency in New York City (USA).
Furthermore, she has taken an active role in the student life of EHL by representing the
university at international conferences such as the Hotel Investment Conference Asia
Pacific (HICAP), as an EHL ambassador and member of the EHL Appeals Commission.
