Tânia Americano started her career in HR in 1997 (not knowing at that time that was already HR), she had started the course of Economic Sciencs at FEP – Faculdade de Economia do Porto (1997-1999), and decided to start to work in part-time as trainer of field teams at Polimaia. At 1999 she understood that even being very helpful the knowledge in Economics, her passion was people, therefore the drastically changed to Human Resources Management at Instituto Politecnico do Porto, finishing the degree in 2002. Same year took the CAP.
After a stay of near 3 years in Hilti (including the university mandatory internship of 12 months), implementing the Iberic People Strategy, Tânia Americano started her career on hospitality integrating Vale do Lobo, as Human Resources Head of Department until end of 2009, having the huge proud of being working in this amazing resort and all his team, making happening all challenges and achieving high standards.
In 2010, fulfilling the personal aim and desire of an international experience and a change in the sector, joined Hagen and after a short induction of 3 months in Lisbon, made the department start up in Angola with a Construction assignment of 20 million euros and a team of near 1000 people (200 of them being expatriates). In 2011 was the time to start up Congo Brazzavile and Gabon with a joint venture with Andrade Gutierrez and later 2012 the implementation in Qatar (short participation). In 2013 joined Kuehne Nagel (freight forwarding company) changing again dramatically the sector and a total new experience assuming the lead of Specialized HR team – dedicated cluster to Oil and Gas Operation – in Angola, Congo and Tanzania, with the standards of 100% compliance clients added to German standards in African countries and within a huge differences of cultures. Middle 2014, joined a task force group acting as BP for the Qatar and Dubai, keeping the repport to MEA HR President.
Once the hospitality passion always was present (using the free time in Africa to be a HR consultant for TDHotels – an amazing experience of how-how of hospitality in African countries, mainly mid and upscale) in beginning of 2016, she decided to return to Portugal and take the challenge of lead the Accor HR in our country– nowadays Talent and Culture department.
Within the AccorHotels, Tania is country T&C responsible for all brands (Sofitel, Novotel, Mercure and Ibis) leading not only the specificity of each brand, but also driving them for the “one Brand” spirit. Actually AccorHotels has a regional organization worldwide, where T&C in Portugal reports to Iberia T&C Vice- President.
